Who Is Jeff Bezos?
Jeffrey Preston Bezos is an entrepreneur, media mogul, investor, and computer engineer from the United States. He is the founder and executive chairman of Amazon, where he formerly served as president and chief executive officer. According to Forbes and Bloomberg's Billionaires Index, he is the world's second wealthiest person, with a net worth of roughly US$205 billion as of November 2021.
Bezos graduated from Princeton University in 1986 after being born in Albuquerque and reared in Houston and Miami. He has a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and a master's degree in computer science. From 1986 to early 1994, he worked on Wall Street in a variety of fields. On a cross-country car trip from New York City to Seattle in 1994, Bezos established Amazon. The company began as an online bookstore and has subsequently expanded to include video and audio streaming, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence, among other e-commerce products and services. Through its Amazon Web Services branch, it is currently the world's largest online sales firm, the largest Internet corporation by revenue, and the world's largest provider of virtual assistants and cloud infrastructure services.
In the year 2000, Bezos launched Blue Origin, an aircraft manufacturer and provider of suborbital spaceflight services. In 2015, Blue Origin's New Shepard vehicle successfully launched into space and returned to Earth. In 2021, the business commenced commercial suborbital human spaceflight and completed two successful missions. He also owns the major American newspaper The Washington Post, which he bought for $250 million in 2013, and his venture capital firm, Bezos Expeditions, handles a number of other investments. Bezos and Mail.ru founder Yuri Milner co-founded biotechnology business Altos Labs in September 2021.
Bezos was called the "richest man in modern history" when his net worth grew to $150 billion in July 2018, making him the first billionaire on the Forbes wealth index. According to Forbes, he had a net worth of more than $200 billion in August 2020. During the COVID-19 epidemic in 2020, Bezos' fortune increased by almost $24 billion. Bezos stepped down as CEO of Amazon on July 5, 2021, and shifted to the post of executive chairman; Andy Jassy, the head of Amazon's cloud computing division, took over as CEO. Jeff Bezos and his brother Mark launched into space on July 20, 2021. The suborbital flight lasted more than ten minutes and reached a height of 66.5 miles (107.0 km).
